JOHANNESBURG – The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has called on the South African National Defence Union (SANDU) to come clean about its intentions after it secured a court order for the arrest warrants of the military’s top brass.

The North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria yesterday granted the order calling on the sheriff to find and arrest SANDF General Solly Shoke, Chief of the Air Force Lieutenant General Zakes Msimang and Secretary for Defence and Military Veterans Dr Sam Gulube for contempt of court after failing to comply with a previous order to reinstate four South African Air Force (SAAF) employees.

But the SANDF says it had already secured a date to explain its non-compliance in court and the union was aware of this.

SANDF spokesperson Brigadier General Xolani Mabanga says, “Sandu will have to come clean to the public with regards to their intentions with the SANDF.”
