Please be aware, the earnings threshold has been increased by the Minister of Labour and is effective from the 1st of July 2014! The new earnings threshold is now R205 433.33 or R17 119. 44 per month.
There are five items you have to pay your employee for if he earns below the new threshold. These are:
1. Work outside of ordinary working hours;
2. Overtime;
3. Work on Sundays;
4. Night work; and
5. Work on public holidays.
